Air New Zealand cuts flights amid rising fuel costs

In New Zealand, the airline Air New Zealand has decided to reduce the number of flights and increase some ticket prices due to the economic impact and rising fuel costs caused by the war that began with attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.

The rise in fuel prices driven by tensions in the Middle East continues to affect airline companies, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

According to Radio New Zealand, the airline stated that changes have been made to its service capacity due to increasing fuel costs.

The statement noted that these changes will affect 4% of flights and 1% of passengers, adding that flight numbers will be reduced and some ticket prices will increase during May and June.

It was also emphasized that domestic flights are less affected, and compared to other airlines in New Zealand, these changes are considered “small-scale,” with some airlines cutting capacity by more than 10%.

The company underlined that passengers whose existing bookings are affected by the changes will be able to request refunds if the new schedules do not suit their plans.

In a social media post, Member of Parliament Tom Rutherford stated that the airline will reduce 27 flights to Auckland and 30 flights to Wellington in May and June.

Airlines in Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia and Vietnam, have also signaled that they may take similar measures.
