North Macedonia makes historic security contribution, NATO acknowledges
North Macedonia is among the first countries to reach the two-percent GDP threshold of investments in defense and has provided a historic contribution in security, which is acknowledged by NATO, says Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski.
"This is maybe the most important issue at the NATO ministerial meetings, since all countries have difficulties in reaching the target. Some countries must give up a lot, sacrifice their ratings because of this. We need to look at the big picture and see that every country is getting more armament. We have to do the same and we will," Minister Misajlovski told Sitel.
Misajlovski says the Western Balkans is known for being susceptible to various influence and that he raises the topic at every meeting in Brussels and Munich, CE Report quotes MIA.
"I always open the Western Balkans topic, the importance of continuing the KFOR mission. The Ministry of Defense and the Army are maybe the best example of how neighbors should treat each other, considering our mutual support, be it in time of natural disasters or tragedies. Neighbors always help us, and we do as well," says Misajlovski.
The Minister says defense policy, including the idea of a single army and a common security policy is one of EU's major topics.
According to him, the country's state of security is good, based on the daily briefings from various institutions and the Army's combat readiness.
