Slovenia set new records in tourist arrivals and nights in 2025, mostly due to a surge in the number of foreign visitors.

Those preferred the usual hotspots such as the capital Ljubljana, lakeside resort Bled and the seaside, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

The latest records are well above those recorded in 2024. Just under seven million tourists visited Slovenia last year, a 6.2% increase from 2024. There were 17.8 million tourism nights recorded, up 5.9%.

Slovenian guests spent some 4.5 million nights at accommodation establishments, a figure remaining roughly level with the previous year. Foreign guests accounted for 13.4 million nights, or 8% more, according to the latest Statistics Office data.

Foreign visitors accounted for three-quarters of all nights. Guests from Germany topped the list, being the only ones to spend more than two million nights in Slovenia, representing 15% of the total recorded by foreign visitors.

Tourists from Italy and Austria accounted for more than a million nights each, followed by guests from Croatia, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Hotels remained the preferred accommodation type, as roughly 43% of all guests opted for them, followed by small-scale private accommodation (23%) and campsites (14%).

Location-wise, mountain resorts were the most popular choice, both when it comes to arrivals and nights. They recorded 2.2 million arrivals (31%) and 6.2 million nights (35%). Other popular destinations remained the same as usual - Ljubljana, the coast and spa resorts. Visitor numbers at the latter are usually driven largely by Slovenian guests.
