The airline Chair Airline is the first carrier to confirm operations from Vlora International Airport, Albania.

According to the official announcement, direct flights from Vlora to Zurich will begin on June 26, 2026, and will operate twice a week until October 23, 2026, CE Report quotes ATA.

This development is seen as an important step toward the full operationalization of the airport and the strengthening of international air connections, especially with Switzerland, a key market for tourism and family visits (VFR).

The Chief Executive Officer of Vlora International Airport, Valon Lluka, stated that this collaboration marks a new stage for the airport and the development of the region.

He emphasized that the airport is committed to providing high-quality services and a modern travel experience, while this new route is expected to have a positive impact on the growth of tourism and the local economy.

Tickets for the Vlora-Zurich flights are now available for booking, while the airport is preparing to welcome its first passengers and open a new chapter in the development of air travel in the south of the country.

On May 8, 2025, the first certification flight was completed at this airport.

Meanwhile, construction work for Vlora International Airport is in full swing, with a focus on building modern, sustainable infrastructure up to international standards, which will serve as a new gateway to the Albanian Riviera.

Spanning 309 hectares with a 3.2 km runway and an investment of 104 million euros, the southern airport is set to propel the region to development and boost tourism.

The airport features a runway designed for 4E-category aircraft, such as wide-body planes like the Airbus A330-340 or Boeing 777, which are suitable for accommodation at this airport.

One of the parallel connecting taxiways, which matches the length of the 3.2 km runway, will ensure a higher capacity for aircraft movement in the maneuvering area.

Located just 10 km north of the city of Vlora, VIA Airport will provide people with easy access to the entire southern coastline and the Albanian Riviera. This airport will offer an additional gateway for foreign tourists to reach the stunning southern beaches, while also serving as a new connecting bridge between Albania and other countries.
