Wizz Air launches Skopje-Prague flight
A direct flight between Skopje and Prague is launching Monday with flights, operated by the low-cost company WizzAir after receiving government subsidies, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
A WizzAir flight to Cologne will be reintroduced from the Skopje International Airport at 7:25 pm this evening with flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, CE Report quotes MIA.
“This flight is a message that Macedonia has been opening the doors toward Europe enhancing its connection with one of the most dynamic regions,” Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska told a news conference Monday at the Skopje airport.
Every new destination we’re opening to the citizens, she noted, is a fresh opportunity for a better economic cooperation, for more tourists, faster business development and new partnerships.
“It also paves the way for Macedonia to be more visible and to join European economic and technology trends,” said Bozhinovska after the Skopje-Prague flight, which was active from 2005 until 2012, is being reintroduced upon her initiative.
TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt said the launch of the flight not only opens new opportunities for passengers, but also the two capitals Skopje and Prague become connected, ways are created for economic cooperation, tourism, cultural exchange and development of business ties.
“I’m glad that the direct flight will make Prague more available to our citizens and companies all the while allowing Czech tourists and investors to discover Macedonia easily,” he said adding the flight comes as a result of strategic cooperation and dedicated team work.
Skopje-Prague one-way ticket in January is 21€, revealed Wizz Air Head of Communications, Andras Rado.
“We’re committed to having low prices and corrections are not planned,” he said.
Next year is expected to see a growth of 20 percent in air traffic from the Macedonian airports with over 3.5 million passengers, according to Kurt.
