South Africa lifts visa requirement for Croatian citizens

South Africa has exempted Croatian citizens from visa requirements for stays of up to 90 days, Croatia’s Foreign Ministry said.

This achievement is the result of strengthened cooperation and communication with the South African side, led by Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, and efforts at all levels of the ministry, including the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria, the ministry said in a statement, CE Report quotes HINA.

It added that bilateral ties were given further momentum by the visit of South Africa’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alvin Botes to Zagreb last December and political consultations.

The ministry stressed that South Africa maintains a “strict visa regime”, which had until now required Croatian citizens to apply for visas, “significantly complicating” travel and business operations in the country.

“With this decision, our citizens and businesses are granted easier access to a country with significant influence on the African continent and globally, which this year holds the presidency of the G20,” it said.
