Albania’s Durrës Offers Ibiza Vibes Without the Price Tag

The Airbnb platform has considered the Albanian coastal city similar to Ibiza - offering stunning, clean beaches and a vibrant nightlife - but at a much lower cost, writes Danielle Canagasuriam in an article published in the British daily "Mirror".

In a report, Airbnb details the trendiest travel destinations in the UK for the summer of 2025, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Offering beach bars and a vibrant nightlife - Durres is the ideal destination for tourists looking for an Ibiza-like experience - but on a limited budget.

"Britons are increasingly looking for vibrant and fun environments - offering the same bohemian charm and vibrant nightlife as Ibiza - but without the high prices," according to Airbnb.

"Albania is a gem. Searches for the city located on the Adriatic coast are currently increasing, as Britons look to explore cheap holiday destinations," the platform said.

But Durrës is more than just an Ibiza-like destination – it has a rich history to discover.

Durrës is one of the oldest and most important port cities in the Balkans, with a history dating back nearly 3,000 years.

Its impressive history has given Durrës the title of "Eternal City" on the Adriatic Sea.

One of the biggest attractions in Durrës is undoubtedly its sandy beaches, according to Atsh.

Durrës is home to some of Albania's most stunning beaches, suitable for both water sports enthusiasts and tourists looking for quiet beaches.

The most famous beach in the city is the beach of the same name: Durrës beach.

The coastline has been compared to the French Riviera with shallow waters and soft sand.

There are some rocks hidden in the areas adjacent to the harbor – so you may want to bring water shoes.

Visitors seeking adventure can rent a jet ski or try skydiving at Durres beach.

Also, activities such as volleyball and yoga sessions are offered, organized by the largest beach clubs.

Don't miss another local gem: Golem Beach.

Located 20 kilometers south of Durrës city center, Golem beach – with about 3,5 kilometers of soft, golden sand and turquoise waters – is worth a visit.

There are many other beaches – both hidden gems and tourist spots – that are quite easy to reach from the city center.

Beaches near Durres:

Spille beach

Porto Romano Beach

Kallmi beach

Cape Rodon

The rock of Kavaja

Currilove Beach

If you are looking for a more cultural experience, explore the numerous galleries, theaters, and museums in Durrës.

One of the most visited is the Archaeological Museum, where objects spanning multiple periods are exhibited.

If you want a more modern atmosphere and cultural richness, the south of the city is the best choice.

Here, you'll find bustling restaurants and resorts, as well as a vibrant nightlife.
