EU-funded Bilçë Bridge opens, boosting ecotourism in Albania
The Bilçë Bridge in Berat (Albania) is now a fully completed segment with all urban parameters in place, making it a major gateway for the flow of tourism toward the millennia-old, revitalized Berat.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Rama shared images of the completed bridge, CE Report quotes ATA.
The Bilçë Bridge in Berat connects the villages of Bilçë, Malinat, and Zhitom i Vogël, and will soon also link with the road to the village of Drobonik, as well as with the traffic flow along the axis Berat – Ballaban – Përmet – Gjirokastër – Greece.
This investment is a project by the Municipality of Berat in partnership with the Albanian Development Fund and financed through a grant from European Union funds.
According to the designers, this bridge essentially turns Bilçë into a neighborhood of the city of Berat and, furthermore, expands the tourism package, with visitors just minutes away from ecotourism destinations in Bilçë and the surrounding areas.
The bridge is 268 meters long and has a superstructure width of 12.4 meters, including sidewalks and bike lanes.
