Albania’s tourist growth shatters records
Tourism in Albania continues to experience steady growth, reflecting a significant increase both in the number of visitors and their overnight stays in accommodation facilities.
According to a report published by INSTAT, the number of visitors increased by 21.9% in March of this year compared to the same period last year, with the largest share of growth coming from non-resident visitors, who rose by 27.3%, while resident visitors increased by 13.9%, CE Report quotes ATA.
Overnight stays also grew by 30.8%, dominated by stays from non-resident visitors, which increased by 32.1%. Meanwhile, overnight stays by domestic visitors rose by 28.4%.
The most notable increase in non-resident visitors was recorded in non-coastal areas, with a 20.6% rise, and in hotels and similar accommodation, where the increase was 27.6%.
In March, the majority of foreign visitors staying in accommodation structures in Albania came from Italy, accounting for 23% of the total. Visitors from Kosovo made up 15%, followed by Germany with 10%. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom represented 7% of the visitors and France 3%.
These figures indicate a growing interest in Albania as a tourist destination from key markets in Europe and the region, highlighting the country’s strong potential not only for coastal tourism but also for cultural and nature tourism in inland areas.
The hotel room occupancy rate in March 2025 reached 18.4%, an increase compared to 17.3% in the same month of 2024.
