Orhei National Park, one of only two national parks in Moldova, stands out as a remarkable protected area known for its stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and deep cultural roots, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Located in the Codri region, the park covers over 337 km² across the districts of Orhei, Strășeni, Călărași, and Criuleni. It is home to more than 700 plant and animal species, many of which are state-protected.

The park is divided into four zones:

  • Zone A is strictly protected, allowing only scientific research.

  • Zone B permits limited forest management and educational activities.

  • Zone C supports eco-tourism, offering hiking, cycling, and birdwatching.

  • Zone D includes villages where traditional, eco-friendly practices continue.

Orhei National Park showcases a successful balance between nature conservation, sustainable tourism, and local community development.
