The vehicle fleet in circulation is undergoing a significant transformation toward sustainable transport, with a notable increase in electric vehicles during the period January–September 2025, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to official data, a total of 3,901 electric vehicles were registered, marking an 80% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This reflects a growing awareness among both citizens and businesses about the environmental impact of transportation, reports ATSH.

Brand-new electric vehicles (with zero kilometers) accounted for 39.9% of all new zero-kilometer registrations in the first nine months of this year. That’s a sharp rise from 28.2% in 2024, and a continued increase from 25% in 2023 and 7.2% in 2022.

Beyond registration numbers, the positive environmental impact is another meaningful indicator.

For the period January–September 2025 alone, it's estimated that over 13 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions have been avoided—equivalent to planting more than 452,000 trees.

This result not only strengthens the country's commitment to sustainable development goals, but also encourages the further development of supportive policies in the clean transport sector.
