Cristiano Ronaldo dedicates BOAT award to fans worldwide
Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked fans around the world after being voted the winner of the BOAT (Best Ballon d’Or of All Time) award for his outstanding 2008 season.
"Football belongs to the fans! Thank you to all the fans around the world. The Ballon d’Or of All Time is yours too," the Portuguese superstar wrote on Instagram.
Ronaldo praised the support of his fans, dedicating the award to them. The winner was determined through votes cast by more than 5,000 people, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The recognition celebrates one of the most remarkable seasons of Ronaldo's career. In 2008, while playing for Manchester United, he enjoyed a spectacular campaign, scoring 42 goals in all competitions and helping the club win both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
His performances also earned him the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year award and his first Ballon d'Or, making him the first Manchester United player to win the prestigious honour since George Best in 1968.
At just 23 years old, Ronaldo had established himself as one of the world's leading footballers, laying the foundations for one of the most successful individual careers in the history of the sport.
The latest BOAT recognition adds another honour to his remarkable legacy and highlights the lasting impact of his performances during that unforgettable year.
