Slovenia's football star sidelined until 2027 with shin injury
Slovenia star striker Benjamin Šeško is expected to be sidelined until at least the start of the new year due to a shin injury that has plagued him for months.
This means he will not appear in Slovenia's final two Nations League matches in November, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.
The 23-year-old Manchester United member had already missed the first four Nations League matches in the early-autumn slot, but the team had hoped he would join for the final two games against Switzerland and North Macedonia in mid-November.
Slovenia are currently in second place in Group B1 and are well positioned to aim for advancement to the A league.
Šeško, who played his last match in the Premier League on 16 September, has been struggling with recurring problems stemming from a blow to his shin in March, The Athletic has reported.
He continued playing for two months after the initial injury, but subsequently missed the final three games of last season and was also rested during preparations for this season.
Manchester United's medical staff consulted specialists after the injury flared up again recently and opted for a conservative treatment approach, according to The Athletic.
BBC Sport reports that the injury was caused by an impact rather than shin splints, and that the problem was similar but not the same as his earlier injury.
Since joining United from Leipzig in a mega deal in August 2025, Šeško has made 38 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals, including two in six games this season. In the national team, he has 16 goals from 45 appearances.
