Kosovo’s sport enters new era with ministry launch

In the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo, sport is being treated as a separate ministry for the first time, becoming an independent portfolio.

The Ministry of Sport will be led by Blerim Gashani, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

His appointment comes at an important moment for Kosovar sport, which faces a strong need for investment in sports infrastructure, capacity development, and stronger support for young talents.

The challenge is even greater given that Kosovo will host the Mediterranean Games in 2030, a major international event expected to bring significant investment in sports infrastructure.

The creation of the Ministry of Sport is considered a new institutional step for Kosovar sport, ahead of a decisive decade that will culminate with the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
