Slovenia begins European men’s Handball Championship campaign
Tomorrow, the men’s European Handball Championship will begin with matches in Groups A and C. The tournament will run until February 1 and will be hosted by Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
The Slovenian national team will play at the European Championship on the 15th, with head coach Uroš Zorman’s side opening their campaign on Friday against Montenegro, CE Report quotes STA.
A significantly depleted Slovenian team will play the first group stage in Oslo in Group D. After the match against Montenegro, they will face Switzerland on Sunday and the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.
If they advance—something that will be secured by the top two teams from each group—Slovenia will then play four more matches in Malmö, Sweden, between January 22 and 28, against opponents from Groups E and F.
The main favorites for the title are Denmark, while France are the defending champions, having claimed the title in Germany, where Slovenia finished in sixth place.
