Romania, Hungary explore football academy exchanges
The president of the Romanian Football Federation, Răzvan Burleanu, stated on Tuesday, during the diplomatic meeting he had in Bucharest with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, that the Hungarian experience represents a model when it comes to public funding granted for the development of the most relevant sports sectors, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
“The Hungarian experience represents a model of good practices regarding public funding for the development of the most relevant sports branches and the value given to sports diplomacy as a tool for promoting international cooperation. The role of football is to remove barriers between nations and to create multidimensional opportunities for collaboration,” the president said, according to the official FRF website.
Considering the particularities of the two countries’ systems of organizing youth football and football academies, the two officials explored the possibility of developing cooperation models that would include exchanges of experience between academies, internships for employees in the neighboring country’s football organizations, the organization of joint educational programs, as well as friendly matches between academy teams or national youth squads.
“Together with Minister Peter Szijjarto, we identified the possibility of organizing friendly matches at the level of top academies and national youth and junior teams, as well as holding joint educational programs as a first step in an approach we wish to develop in the coming years,” president Răzvan Burleanu said after the meeting.
