FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa, Executive Director Kamil Novak, and officials from the Kosovo Basketball Federation (FBK)—including President Arben Fetahu and Secretary General Elvira Dushku—were received by Kosovo’s Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Hajrulla Çeku. Also present were Deputy Minister Daulina Osmani, Secretary General Bislim Bislimi, and Fidan Shatri, Head of Kosovo’s Sports Agency, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The meeting focused on the close cooperation between MCYS and the Kosovo Basketball Federation, with the Ministry being a consistent supporter of basketball development in the country.

A key topic of discussion was the 2023 Mediterranean Games, set to be hosted in Kosovo for the first time. The Ministry will invest in the development of sports infrastructure, which is essential for the successful hosting and organization of the games.

Garbajosa thanked Minister Çeku for his ongoing support for basketball in Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of institutional backing for FBK to organize both domestic and international competitions.

FBK leaders also confirmed their strong cooperation with MCYS and expressed gratitude for the significant support provided to basketball in Kosovo.

This is Jorge Garbajosa’s second visit to Kosovo, his first being in December last year.
Garbajosa was elected President of FIBA Europe in May 2023, during which FBK President Arben Fetahu was also elected as a member of the FIBA Europe Board.

The former Spanish center is currently visiting Kosovo for the FIBA Europe Youth Commission meeting, held in the country for the first time, with Fetahu serving as Vice-Chair of the Commission.
