FIFA confirms all 2026 host cities expected to be ready
FIFA hopes that all 16 selected cities will be fully prepared to host the 2026 World Cup finals matches in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, meeting every requirement set by the international federation. This statement came following comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested the possibility of relocating some matches from current host cities — including Boston and Los Angeles — due to security concerns, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“We believe each of the 16 designated cities will be ready to host successfully and meet all necessary requirements,” said a FIFA spokesperson. “Safety remains our top priority at all events, but it is ultimately the responsibility of national and local governments.”
The United States will host the majority of the matches in this expanded 48-team tournament, with eleven of the 16 stadiums located on U.S. soil. The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19.
Recently, President Trump stated that FIFA President Gianni Infantino would be willing to approve moving matches to other cities if there are concerns about public safety, linking the issue to measures he plans to take against several Democrat-led U.S. cities.
