English Premier League Matchday 5 Fixtures
The “duel” between the reigning champions and leaders Liverpool and their city rivals Everton, also known as the Merseyside derby, is one of the most interesting matches of the 5th round, which continues over the weekend of September 20–21 in the Premier League.
The “Reds” will host the “Blues” at Anfield, in the clash that opens the curtain of the 5th round, and will fight for three points in order to extend their perfect run and maintain their three-point lead over the teams chasing them in the standings. On the other hand, David Moyes’ side will be aiming for a win against the “Reds” to return to success after the draw with Aston Villa and to stay high in the table, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
The result of the derby at Anfield directly concerns Liverpool’s pursuers, as they will have the chance to catch Arne Slot’s team at the top. One of the teams chasing the “Reds” is Arsenal, which, however, has a very difficult task as they host Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in the match that concludes the 5th round. Among the other title chasers, Tottenham face Brighton away, where Stefanos Tzimas and Babis Kostoulas play, while Bournemouth host Newcastle.
Meanwhile, an interesting clash — in terms of big names — is Manchester United vs Chelsea at Old Trafford, with the “Red Devils” looking to bounce back from the 3–0 derby defeat to City, and the “Blues” coming off a 3–1 loss to Bayern Munich in the opening round of the Champions League league phase. For his part, Ange Postecoglou will be seeking his first win as Nottingham Forest coach in the away match against newly promoted Burnley, as in the two games he has been in charge of the “Reds” so far, he has suffered two defeats (to Arsenal in the league and Swansea in the League Cup). Finally, Konstantinos Mavropanos’ West Ham will try to put behind them the home defeat to Tottenham and return to winning ways, hosting another London side — Crystal Palace.
