Shkëndija eliminated from Champions League after heavy loss to Qarabag

Shkëndija Tetovo ends its journey in the Champions League qualifiers after a second heavy defeat in the return leg against Qarabag, losing 5-1.

Following a 0-1 loss in Macedonia, the red-and-blacks started well in Baku, scoring in the 10th minute through Tamba after an assist from Ibraimi, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

However, just 8 minutes later, things turned around with an own goal by Cakes and a goal from Borges.

The first half continued to be difficult for the Albanian team, conceding two more goals from Akhundzade and Jankovic. In the second half, the hosts added a fifth goal with Andrade, reports TCh.

As a result, Shkëndija ends its Champions League campaign and will move directly into the Europa League playoffs, where they will face the loser of the Ferencvaros vs Ludogorets match. The Albanian side is at least guaranteed a spot in the Conference League.
