Albania’s Briken Calja wins European Clean & Jerk in Batumi
Competing in the -79 kg category in Batumi, Albania’s Briken Calja took home the European Clean & Jerk gold with a 187 kg lift.
In addition to the gold medal, Calja also won the silver medal, CE Report quotes ATA.
In total, the Albanian weightlifter lifted 340 kg, only 1 kg less than the Russian Serobian.
Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama congratulated the Albanian weightlifter, describing it as a “deserved success that promotes the Albanian flag high in the international arena”.
“A well-deserved triumph that raises the Albanian flag high in the international arena”, Rama wrote.
