Kosovo athletes chase Olympic pathway points
The prestigious World Boxing Cup – Brazil 2026, taking place in Foz do Iguaçu from April 20 to 27, has brought together 342 boxers from 49 countries, setting a participation record and becoming one of the most important events of the year in international boxing.
In this competition, last night (April 21), Kosovar boxer Shpëtim Bajoku competed in the 65 kg category but suffered a defeat against Canadian Gabriel Labrie. The bout was part of the tournament’s opening round, where competition is extremely tough due to the importance of ranking points at stake, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Meanwhile, today (April 22), it is the turn of boxer Donjeta Sadiku, who competes in the 60 kg category. She advanced past the first round without a fight and will face New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson, aiming for a positive result for Kosovo.
This World Cup carries special significance, as the points earned directly impact qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, making every bout crucial on the road to the Olympics.
