Bulgarian swimmer Petar Mitsin finished seventh in the men’s 400m freestyle final at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore on Sunday, CE Report quotes BTA

The 19-year-old clocked 3:45.28 minutes, slightly slower than his earlier heat time. He started strong and was third midway through the race but lost pace in the final stretch.

Germany’s Lukas Maertens won gold (3:42.35), followed by Australia’s Samuel Short (3:42.37) and South Korea’s Woomin Kim (3:42.60).

Mitsin is only the fifth Bulgarian to reach a men’s individual final in a long-course world championship. His result is the second-best in Bulgarian history after Denislav Kalchev’s sixth place in 1994.
