Roland Garros offers higher prize money than Australian Open
The total prize pool for the second Grand Slam of the season, Roland Garros, will amount to €61.7 million this year, an increase of 9.5% compared with last year.
It will be distributed among all participants, including €2.8 million for the winners in both the men’s and women’s competitions, CE Report quotes MIA.
As announced by the organizers, the prize distribution ranges from €24,000 for a first-round qualifying loss in singles to €2.8 million for the champion, compared with €2.5 million last year.
Reaching the main draw guarantees a minimum earning of €87,000. Players eliminated in the third round will earn approximately €187,000, while a semifinal loss will bring €750,000.
Roland Garros offers a larger prize pool than the Australian Open (€2.5 million), but less than Wimbledon (€3.4 million) and the US Open (€4.3 million).
The Paris Grand Slam will be held from May 24 to June 7.
