Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, Milan's newest signing, has been officially presented in the red and black jersey and has given his first interview to Milan TV, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The Real Madrid legend has revealed his emotions, the reasons for the transfer and the expectations for his new adventure in Serie A.

“It’s a very nice photo. As a child, I often followed Serie A and Milan was my favorite team. At that time, in Croatia we watched a lot of Milan matches because it was one of the biggest clubs in the world. My idol, Zvonimir Boban, played there. Now I’m very happy to be part of this club and I can’t wait to start this new adventure,” Modric said, commenting on his childhood photo in a Milan tracksuit.

Modric arrived at Malpensa airport to officially begin his Milan adventure. He revealed that he had other offers, but he was clear about where he wanted to go:

“I wanted to stay in Europe and play competitive football. When Milan contacted me, I had no doubts. I was impressed by the fact that the sporting director Igli Tare came to Croatia himself to present the club’s project to me. That showed me how much they wanted me. Milan is a giant club, which is not satisfied with average. We have to aim for titles and be competitive with the best in the world. That is why I am here.”

What does Modric bring to Milan?

"I come with a lot of respect for everyone: the players, the coaches and the club. I want to bring the hunger to win, help the team in every way and work hard for my place in the lineup. It's never easy - you have to fight every day."

Experiences and expectations for Serie A

"I have always followed Italian football. Serie A is very competitive and has grown a lot in recent years. There are great players, strong teams and it is a very tactical and physical league. I have a lot of Croatian friends who play here and I love following this championship."

The secret to longevity in football

"I've always said that the most important thing is the love for football. I still feel the fire inside me. That's what motivates me. Hard work, preparation and a healthy lifestyle are essential, but above all it's passion that keeps you alive in this sport."

For the number 14 on the jersey

"Number 10 is occupied by a great player like Rafael Leão, who is the present and future of Milan. I chose number 14 because I like it. I also wore it at the beginning of my career and at Tottenham. I hope it brings me luck here too."

Unfulfilled desires

“I have achieved more than I ever dreamed of. But I am never satisfied – I always want more, especially professionally. When you win, you want to do it again. That is my motivation.”

For life off the field

“I have a wonderful family – a loving wife and three children. This is my greatest asset. With my wife, we try to transmit the most important values to our children: respect and humility, just as our parents taught us.”

Message to the red and black fans

"I'm very happy to be part of Milan. I can't wait to see you at San Siro. I hope we can give you lots of emotions and celebrate victories together. Forza Milan!"

At the age of 39, Luka Modric is starting a new chapter in his brilliant career. Now, he is ready to write history with the red and black jersey.
