Mancini Ready for Italy Comeback

Sports

Former Italy coach Roberto Mancini has stated that he is ready to return to the helm of the Italian national team following the departure of Luciano Spalletti.

In an interview with “Gazzetta dello Sport”, Mancini admitted that his resignation in September 2023 was a mistake and expressed regret that he did not communicate better with FIGC president Gabriele Gravina, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

After leaving Italy, Mancini took charge of Saudi Arabia, but only stayed until October 2024 after 18 matches. He said he had always dreamed of winning the World Cup with Italy and that returning to "Coverciano" would be a challenge, but also a great pleasure.

Mancini believes the relationship with Gravina can be mended and does not rule out a new collaboration.

Meanwhile, Football Italia reports that Gennaro Gattuso is the leading candidate to replace Spalletti, and has developed contacts with Gianluigi Buffon.
