Twenty athletes will represent Bulgaria at the 14th World Calisthenics Championships, set to take place from April 24 to 27 at Sofia’s Asics Arena, CE Report quotes BTA

This marks the first time Bulgaria is hosting the event—and the first time it will be held in such a large venue. For the first time in the championship’s history, admission will be free. “We want to show everyone how great this sport is,” said Tsvetan Georgiev, chair of the organizing committee and executive member of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation.

Georgiev highlighted the growing popularity of calisthenics, noting that the International Olympic Committee is increasingly supporting modern, urban sports that appeal to youth.

Head coach and two-time world freerun champion Delyan Dimitrov praised Bulgaria’s top athletes, including Cveti Staneva, Jasmina Svilenova, Daniel Hristov, and Viktor Kamenov. “We’re not just participating—we’re aiming for first place,” he said.

The event will feature competitors from 59 countries and include freestyle and endurance disciplines. Organizers Tsvetan Georgiev and Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation Secretary General Jordan Jovtchev are behind the effort to elevate calisthenics on the world stage.
