Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026 draws record interest from runners
Interest in the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026, scheduled for October 10–11, is high this year, with organizers expecting more than 11,000 participants from Bulgaria and abroad.
Early Bird registration, priced at €20, will close on April 30 via the event’s official website, after which fees will increase to the next pricing tier, CE Report quotes BTA.
Participants can choose from several race distances, each with a fixed capacity:
- ASICS Marathon (42.195 km): 1,500 runners
- Address Run Half Marathon (21.1 km): 3,000 runners
- Garmin Run (10.55 km): 4,000 runners
- 5 km FIB Mass Run: 2,000 runners
- Relay (2x21 km): 300 teams (600 runners)
For the first time, runners can track in real time the number of remaining spots for each race distance directly on the registration page. Once a category reaches capacity, registration will close automatically.
The event continues to strengthen its position as the largest city marathon in Bulgaria and the biggest sporting event in Sofia, attracting both elite athletes and thousands of amateur runners from around the world.
