The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, reaffirmed at the opening of the federation’s congress in Vancouver that Iran will participate in this year’s World Cup, the French news agency AFP reported.

He also confirmed that he will run for a new mandate in 2027, CE Report quotes STA.

Iran’s participation in the World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, had been uncertain since war broke out in the Middle East in February following attacks by the United States and Israel.

The Swiss official Gianni Infantino has repeatedly stressed that Iran will play at the World Cup, and reiterated this again today before delegates in Vancouver.

“Let me say and confirm right away that Iran will, of course, play at the 2026 World Cup. And of course, it will play in the United States,” Infantino said.
