The Municipality of Pristina has announced the best athletes for 2024 at a special evening organized at the Youth and Sports Palace in Pristina.

The best female athlete of the year was swimmer Hana Beiqi, while the best male athlete was Jon Gashi from the sports department of Teakëandoë, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Kosovo national football player Edon Zhegrova was honored with a special award from the Municipality of Pristina.

The best club of the year among men was declared "2 Korriku" in football, while among girls the basketball club "Prishtina.

The best coach of the year award went to Labinot Haziri as coach of "2 Korrik".

On this occasion, the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, said that this municipality is honoring those who are bringing pride to the capital of Kosovo, but also to the entire country.

"It is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate all those who have contributed to the successes of our city by transforming Pristina into a place where sports and sports engagement are an essential part of daily life here in the capital. There is nothing more beautiful than when a city experiences the glory of a sports victory, and this is true in every discipline and in every sport. Therefore, tonight we are honoring outstanding individuals, we are also honoring a spirit, commitment and a tradition that fills our stadiums, gyms, arenas and even our swimming pools with hope and pride. These individuals who will be honored tonight are those who have shown us that through sports much more is achieved, more than victory, everything that makes us believe in our capabilities is achieved", emphasized Rama.

Meanwhile, the director of the Directorate for Sports in the Municipality of Pristina, Kushtrim Mushica, said that during 2024, this municipality has invested in improving sports infrastructure and has supported numerous athletes and sports organizations.

"As the Director of Sports, we have been committed to supporting you at every step by investing in sports infrastructure, supporting our clubs and organizations, and creating better conditions for the development of sports in the capital, from the construction of new stands in the city's stadiums to the creation of new spaces for sports and recreation. We have worked to make sports as accessible as possible for everyone. In 2024, through subsidies, we supported 166 sports and youth organizations with over 650 thousand euros, we awarded 54 sports laureates and we awarded scholarships to young athletes, investing in the future of sports." prishtina"s", said Mushica.

While the announced top 10 consists of Arona Krasniqi, Bashkim Bajoku, Drin Kuka, Drilon Islami, Drilon Maxharraj, Elmedina Istogu, Granit Kulueta, Kiana Kryeziu, Malvina Haziri and Rona Gashi.
