Bulgaria's highest ranked tennis player Grigor Dimitrov lost 2-6 4-6 6-7(3) to world No. 2 Jannik Sinner at the quarterfinals of the French Open in Paris on Tuesday. The result and Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from the competition due to injury means that Sinner will become No. 1 in the world when the rankings are updated on Monday (June 10), CE Report quotes BTA

The Italian played at a high level, scoring 29 winners with only 20 unforced errors and maintained high intensity thorough the whole match, constantly pressuring his opponent. Dimitrov fought to the last point, reaching 40-40 on Sinner's serve at 6-5 in the third set but failed to capitalize on his chances.
