Romania Unveils CORVUS Satellite

Romania

Romania's new CORVUS satellite, designed to detect and localize radio interference on its territory, was presented on Friday. The satellite, developed for the Communication and Information Technology Command (CCI), was showcased alongside key research results, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The event, attended by Mr. Tudor Prisecaru, Vice-President of the National Authority for Research (ANC), highlighted the project's significance for Romania's technological and scientific advancement. Both the CORVUS satellite and its ground infrastructure were developed under the funding of the Armament General Directorate (DPA) through the Sectoral Plan for Research and Development.

CORVUS represents a major achievement in Romania's space industry, marking the successful creation of a satellite demonstrator for monitoring radio frequency (RF) emissions. The satellite and its control station were fully designed, built, and tested in Romania by a consortium led by RISE - Romanian InSpace Engineering, in collaboration with national research institutes such as INFLPR and INCAS, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), Rartel SA, and the Special Telecommunications Service.

Romanian researchers' contributions have been vital to the success of this project, underscoring Romania’s capacity to develop cutting-edge technologies at international standards, reinforcing the country's role in global technological innovation and security.
