Italian Defence Minister to visit Bulgaria

Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov will welcome Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto at Bezmer Air Base, the Defence Ministry's press service said here Sunday.

The ministers and their delegations will hold a working meeting during Crosetto's visit to Bulgaria on September 14. After their bilateral talks, Stoyanov and Crosetto will make brief statements to the media, CE Report quotes BTA.

Later that day, Crosetto will visit Novo Selo Training Area to meet the Italian military contingent serving with NATO's Multinational Battlegroup in Bulgaria. Italy is the battlegroup's framework nation, the ministry added.

In December 2025, then outgoing defence minister Atanas Zapryanov and Crosetto signed an intergovernmental agreement on defence cooperation covering the joint construction and use of military facilities in the Kabile military area. Their meeting also took place at Bezmer Air Base.
