Greece's PM urges balance between AI innovation, human values
Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in a discussion with Hemant Taneja, CEO of General Catalyst, in the context of an event held by Endeavor Greece on the ancient hill of Pnyx.
Mitsotakis presented Greece as a field of experimentiation, application, and production of new technologies, but warned at the same time that the speed at which Artificial Intelligence (AI) grows, it threatens labour, social cohesion, education, and the nature itself of human relationships, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
After speaking about the constructive uses of AI in several sectors, including public administration, he also raised questions about how productivity benefited from AI, and at what point it could lead to complacency and loss of writing, critical thinking, and social skills.
AI offers Greece great opportunities in investments, public services, culture, education, and defence, but its utilisation cannot be separated from tis social, economic, and ethical implications, he warned. Technological progress must be accompanied by political responsibility, European regulation, and the continuous protection of human labour, child development, and authentic human relationships. Mitsotakis stressed.
