Bosnia mustn't look to political campaigns in Zagreb and Belgrade, says "Our Party"

Following the adoption of the resolution by the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia, Our Party (Naša stranka) issued a statement saying that Bosnia and Herzegovina will resolve its internal issues within Bosnia and Herzegovina, through dialogue among its peoples and citizens, where the focus must finally be on the quality of life and the dignity of all peoples and citizens, rather than serving as a prop in the political campaigns of Zagreb and Belgrade.

"There are three myths in Bosnia and Herzegovina that have been recycled for more than thirty years whenever real political and practical solutions run out: the myth of a third entity; the myth of abolishing Republika Srpska, promoted by those who signed off on its creation; and the myth of Republika Srpska's secession, promoted by those who know full well that such a scenario would leave them living in even greater poverty and isolation. Myths are useful where, in the absence of knowledge and solutions, politicians lazily resort to worn-out narratives in order to survive politically," the statement said.

Today, Croatia has resorted to those myths at a time when, according to official data, it is facing its slowest GDP growth on record, declining tourism revenues and rising living costs, CE Report quotes FENA.

Instead of seeking solutions, it was easier, the party argued, to turn to "Thompsonization" and militarization, using Bosnian Croats as "convenient tokens to distract attention from the real problems facing Croats in Croatia."

The party also described the proposed amendments to the resolution as "particularly unintelligent," saying they would have restricted freedom of speech and expression, ultimately aiming to sanction and punish Bosnian Croats who do not fit into the proposers' far-right ambitions. "These dangerous proposed amendments were ultimately rejected in the Croatian Parliament," the statement added.

Naša stranka further said it was particularly noteworthy that the resolution expresses support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, given that EU integration requires the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the reduction and relaxation of certain ethnic principles in governance, and a more efficient state administration as envisaged by the EU Growth Plan, rather than further divisions.

"The ultimate political beneficiaries of such moves are precisely those who seek to revive the old pattern of fear and division, which fits perfectly into the HDZ's concept of returning to the familiar ethnic tripod ahead of the October elections," the party said.

The statement concluded by stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina will resolve its internal issues within its own institutions, through dialogue among its peoples and citizens, and in the interest of the dignity of all its peoples and citizens.

"We will continue to fight for such a Bosnia and Herzegovina of equal rights and will not give up, with full respect for our fellow citizens—Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats and all the citizens of our country," Naša stranka said.
