Discussions on enhancing cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on the development of tourism potential, current political processes in BiH, and the Croatian Government’s support for projects of importance to Croats in BiH, were the focus of a meeting between HDZ BiH Vice President and member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Darijana Filipović, and Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina.

The importance of a strong partnership between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was emphasized, as well as Croatia’s continued support for projects that contribute to economic development, regional connectivity, and strengthening tourism competitiveness.

Special attention was devoted to the tourism potential of Mostar as one of the most significant tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, CE Report informs via the HDZ BiH's official website.

Discussing the political situation in BiH, the interlocutors stressed that preserving the country’s stability, functionality, and European perspective requires consistent respect for the constitutional order of BiH and the principle of equality among its three constituent peoples. They emphasized that the Croatian people must be guaranteed the right to elect their legitimate political representatives at all levels of government, which they described as a cornerstone of democratic legitimacy and political stability.

Filipović highlighted the need for an urgent return to political dialogue and for reaching an agreement on amendments to the Election Law of BiH, in accordance with the decisions of domestic and international courts and the constitutional principles on which BiH is founded, in order to jointly build a European future. She stated that the support of the Croatian Government for Croats in BiH is of exceptional importance in every respect. She added that the discussions on concrete projects confirmed this commitment and that investments in infrastructure for the development of sports and tourism potential would remain visible symbols of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Minister Glavina assessed that safeguarding the constitutional position of the constituent peoples and implementing European reforms are key prerequisites for accelerating Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path toward European integration, a goal strongly advocated by the Croatian Government. He also confirmed continued cooperation in achieving the political objectives of the Croatian people in BiH, as well as cooperation at the economic level through support for projects aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure in local communities and developing tourism potential on both sides of the border, which can achieve even better results through closer connectivity.

The meeting also reaffirmed a commitment to continued joint efforts in promoting the interests of the Croatian people in BiH and strengthening overall relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.
