Israel creates buffer zone in Southern Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a visit to southern Lebanon — his first since the start of the war on March 2 against Hezbollah — that the Israeli army has eliminated “the threat of an invasion” by the pro-Iranian group, AFP reports, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

“The war continues, including in the security zone in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said in a video released by his office.

He appeared wearing a bulletproof vest and surrounded by soldiers involved in Israel’s ground offensive in southern Lebanon.

“We have thwarted the threat of an invasion from Lebanon with the help of this security zone,” he added, referring to the creation of “a buffer security zone of eight to ten kilometers” inside Lebanese territory, announced a day earlier, aimed at protecting Israel from Hezbollah attacks.
