Trump-Zelensky meeting: What to expect from talks

At the meeting with Donald Trump upcoming in Washington on Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky intends to suggest a number of measures and their sequence that will contribute to achieving peace.

This is according to Volodymyr Zelensky’s Telegram post, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“The Ukrainian team has already set off for the United States: Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Head of the [Presidential Office] Andriy Yermak, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and individual representatives of the diplomatic corps. They will hold a number of meetings,” the President reported.

Zelensky said he would have the opportunity to visit Washington and hold a meeting with Donald Trump on Friday, October 17.

“I think we will discuss the sequence of the steps I want to suggest. I am grateful to President Trump for our dialogue and support,” the post reads.

Also on the agenda are several more important meetings - with arms manufacturers.

"Meetings with senators and congressmen are also possible. I will also have meetings with energy companies. This is necessary - this was a suggestion from President Trump - and I will meet with companies, because now there are needs resulting from attacks of different formats, not even those Russia has already carried out. We need to prepare in any case. Therefore, this will be useful," the Ukrainian head of state wrote.

Zelensky explained that the main themes for the visit will be air defenses and providing Ukraine with long-range capabilities to pressurize Russia into peace.

As reported, Volodymyr Zelensky is about to meet and talk with Donald Trump in Washington on Friday, October 17.
