Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the facilities of ICEYE in Neo Psychiko on Monday, accompanied by Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou. ICEYE specializes in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite technology, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

The company is building the first two Greek SAR satellites, set for launch by the end of 2025, with 15% of components already produced in Greece. ICEYE also announced plans to begin full satellite construction in Greece by 2026, making it the second European site with full-scale production capabilities.

Mitsotakis hailed ICEYE as a "European success story" and emphasized the strategic value of satellites for environmental monitoring, defense, and security. He highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a high-tech ecosystem and attracting both local and international talent.

Through the National Micro-Satellite Program, the Ministry of National Defence will gain access to high-resolution satellite data. Papastergiou praised ICEYE for investing in real production and helping to bring Greek scientists back into the domestic space sector.
