In his statement, Tassoulas condemned the continued Turkish military presence, calling it a violation of international law and the UN Charter. He highlighted the ongoing division of the island, the displacement of people, human rights violations, and the destruction of cultural heritage.

“We honor those who fought and died in 1974 for Cyprus’s independence and promise to keep working for a just and lasting solution, in line with UN resolutions and EU law,” the president said.
