The Moldovan government has raised alarm over a rise in online disinformation campaigns linked to Russian propaganda, aiming to erode public trust and derail the country’s European path, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Government spokesperson Daniel Voda said false narratives—such as claims that EU integration threatens sovereignty, Moldova is being militarized, or the economy is collapsing—are designed to sow distrust and turn the country backward.

“These are dangerous lies,” Voda stressed, highlighting progress made through European partnerships, including increased public sector wages, doubled child and family budgets, and over 3 billion lei invested in hospital modernization.

He pointed to infrastructure improvements such as 700 km of roads, nearly 1,000 km of water systems, and hundreds of renovated schools, parks, and sports facilities as proof of development.

Voda warned that disinformation efforts will intensify ahead of elections, urging citizens to rely on official sources and resist manipulation. “The truth matters. Elections matter. Moldova has a good direction—towards Europe,” he said.

President Maia Sandu echoed the concern, stating that "the laboratories of absurdities" are operating at full speed to return Moldova to foreign control. “There is peace in Moldova, and there will be peace as long as we remain on the European path,” she affirmed.
