Trump Seeks Qatar's Help in Iran Nuclear Talks

Politics

US President Donald Trump expressed hope on Wednesday that Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani could help mediate a nuclear agreement with Iran amid ongoing talks. During a state dinner in Doha, Trump praised the Emir’s support, calling the situation with Iran “perilous” and emphasizing the need for a solution. He added that a new deal could “save maybe millions of lives.”

The negotiations, focusing on Iran’s nuclear program, began last month with Omani mediation. A fourth round of talks wrapped up on Sunday in Muscat. Trump reiterated the urgency of an agreement, highlighting that the US withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) under his administration had escalated tensions, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
