Tempi Crash Report Confirms No Cover-Up

The recent report by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is the second official forensic investigation ordered by judicial authorities into the Tempi train crash, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis stated on Wednesday in an interview with Parapolitika radio, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Marinakis emphasized that this new report, led by Professor Karonis, confirms the findings of the first report in 2023 — that the explosion most likely originated from silicone oils, with no evidence suggesting the transport of flammable materials. He stressed that there is no basis for theories of smuggling or a government cover-up.

Highlighting the political implications, Marinakis argued that the opposition’s credibility has been "irreparably damaged" due to its previous claims, which the report has now disproven. He reiterated that the government took political responsibility immediately after the accident, while the criminal investigation is ongoing.
