Trump Backs Türkiye Peace Talks

Politics

Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday emphasized the significance of the upcoming Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Türkiye, expressing hope for a positive outcome, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

“Thursday’s meeting with Russia and Ukraine is very important,” Trump said at a press conference, noting his insistence that the talks take place. “Good things can come out of that meeting,” he added.

Praising Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as “a great host,” Trump hinted he might travel to Türkiye if he sees real potential for progress.

Calling the war a “horrible bloodbath” and “a whole new form of warfare,” Trump urged an end to the violence, describing the human toll as unprecedented since World War II.

The peace talks are set to resume in Istanbul, with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin showing readiness to revive stalled negotiations from March 2022. Türkiye has reaffirmed its role as a mediator in the process.
