Trump Optimistic on Progress in Ukraine Peace Talks

Politics

US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine are "very much on track" following a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump described the conversation as "very good" and lasting about an hour, with much of the discussion focusing on aligning the needs of both Russia and Ukraine, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Trump indicated that further details would be shared by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy dismissed Russian President Putin's commitment to a limited ceasefire, citing continued attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, including energy facilities and hospitals.

Despite these challenges, Trump remains hopeful about the possibility of a wider ceasefire and a peace deal to end the conflict. Zelenskyy stressed that security guarantees for Ukraine are essential to avoid future aggression from Putin.
