Romanian and Moldovan transportation officials met in Chisinau to discuss the expansion and modernization of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and the construction of four new road bridges over the Prut River, CE Report quotes Agerpres

During the working meeting of the Romania-Moldova Joint Committee for Transport Coordination, Romanian Secretary of State Ionel Scriosteanu and his Moldovan counterpart, Mircea Pascaluta, signed a protocol for the final liberalization of regular passenger transport, removing the requirement for an operational partner. This agreement marks a significant step in improving transport services between the two countries.

Key topics discussed included the initiation of negotiations for a memorandum on expanding and modernizing the TEN-T in both nations, as well as agreements for four new road bridges over the Prut River. The locations for the new bridges are Stanca (RO) - Costesti (MD), Bumbata (RO) - Leova (MD), Falciu (RO) - Leca (MD), and Raducaneni (RO) - Barboieni (MD).

Additionally, the officials touched on the "Flower Bridge" project in Ungheni, a major infrastructure initiative that will create the first motorway-level road bridge over the Prut River. Work is expected to begin in April 2025. The bridge will be named in honor of the original "Flower Bridge" from 1990.

The meeting also covered the relaunch of railway transport on the Falciu - Cantemir bridge and the reopening of the Border Crossing Point with coordinated control.

Scriosteanu emphasized the strong collaboration between Romania and Moldova, assuring continued support for enhancing transport infrastructure.
