Zelenskyy Clashes with Trump and Vance in Heated White House Meeting

Politics

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in a tense exchange with former U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance during a high-stakes White House meeting on Friday. The confrontation centered on U.S. support for Ukraine and the ongoing conflict with Russia, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Trump accused Zelenskyy of failing to show gratitude for American assistance, warning, "You're gambling with World War Three... Have you said 'thank you' once?" Vance echoed the sentiment, urging Zelenskyy to acknowledge U.S. efforts.

Zelenskyy pushed back, challenging the notion that diplomacy with Russian President Vladimir Putin would yield results. "What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?" he asked, citing past failed agreements with Putin. Trump responded bluntly, telling Zelenskyy, "Your country is in big trouble. You're not winning this."

Vance criticized Ukraine's military strategy, saying, "You guys are forcing conscripts to the frontlines because you have manpower problems." He urged Zelenskyy to appreciate Trump's efforts to resolve the conflict.

The meeting highlighted deep divisions over the path forward for Ukraine, with Trump and Vance emphasizing diplomacy while Zelenskyy warned against trusting Putin.
