Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Monday evening that Romania now has a "functional" government, marking a significant step toward stability. Speaking during the first meeting of the newly formed Cabinet, he highlighted the immediate benefits of the parliamentary vote, noting that foreign borrowing rates for Romania have already begun to decrease, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Ciolacu acknowledged the challenges ahead, describing the government’s mandate as "difficult," but expressed confidence in his team’s experience and professionalism. "This is an essential signal of stability for the Romanian private sector and foreign investors," he said, adding that he expects borrowing rates to continue dropping in the coming days.

The Ciolacu Cabinet was sworn in earlier on Monday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, following a parliamentary vote of confidence, with 240 votes in favor and 143 against.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of avoiding past mistakes and maintaining stability, particularly after a tense period in Romanian politics. He also extended holiday wishes to citizens, saying, "Romanians deserve a peaceful winter holiday. Merry Christmas to everyone with their loved ones."

The Cabinet’s first meeting took place at the Victoria Governmental Palace, setting the stage for the new government’s agenda.
