Sandu Sends Off Moldova’s Youth Olympic Team

President Maia Sandu on Monday handed the national flag to the 23 athletes who will represent Moldova at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Wishing them success, Sandu highlighted the athletes’ role as ambassadors for Moldova’s values, emphasizing education and a healthy lifestyle. “You are living proof that when you truly want something, everything becomes possible,” she said.

Sandu also noted recent government efforts to support sports, including the adoption of a new Sports Law, increased athlete scholarships, and the modernization of over 100 gyms and sports fields nationwide.

The EYOF, held under the European Olympic Committees, is a launchpad for young athletes toward global competitions. Moldova will compete in eight disciplines, including athletics, swimming, judo, and taekwondo.
