Moldova Moves to Regulate State Advertising
Moldova’s parliament commission for Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport, and Mass Media has approved a draft law amending the national advertising legislation. The proposal, initiated by MPs from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), introduces clearer rules for state-funded advertising, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The draft defines state advertising and sets criteria for public fund allocation, such as media diversity, editorial independence, ethical standards, and financial transparency. Public institutions will be required to publish annual plans and reports on public interest campaigns and spending. Advertising providers must also disclose related data.
The Public Procurement Agency will oversee compliance. The amendment is part of Moldova’s efforts to align with EU standards on media freedom.
